The Sub Committee of National Assembly on Ministry of Communications visited the NH & MP Headquarters
The Sub Committee of National Assembly on Ministry of Communications headed by MNA Engineer Hameed-ul-Haq Khalil visited the National Highways & Motorway Police Headquarters, Islamabad today. MNA Muhammad Riaz Malik, Abdul Rehman Kanju, Ramesh Lal, Miss Nasima Hafeez Panezae, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Aurangzaib Haque and Joint Secretary Amina Imran also accompanied to take briefing on the issue of recruitment and shortage of manpower in National Highways & Motorway Police. The convener MNA Engineer Hameed-ul-Haq Khalil in his opening remarks appreciated the performance of NH&MP. He stated that NH&MP has earned respect and goodwill of people due to its true professionalism, honesty and equal application of law. He sympathized with NH&MP for working with meager resources and patrolling on old vehicles which is dangerous for their lives. Muhammad Saleem Bhatti, IG, NH&MP briefed the Sub- Committee about various recruitment made in NH&MP since 2008 and the requests made from time to time regarding sanction of manpower and other resources. He informed that no manpower has been sanctioned for Liyari Expressway, Muree Expressway (N-75) and M-4 and the force has been deployed on these roads form pulling out manpower form within the existing resources. This is compromising on the quality of service of NH&MP. He further informed that only portion of RCD Highway (N-25) and Coastal Highway (N-10) are operational due to shortage of manpower. The committee, on behalf of sub-Committee assured that the sub-committee, keeping in view the performance of NH&MP and serious resource constraints, would send recommendations to the Government for provision of required manpower and resources. He further said that he and his team would personally visit relevant ministers and even the Prime Minister for early sanction of resources for NH&MP.
