Sub-Committee of Standing Committee on Communications visited the National Highways & Motorway Police, Headquarters, Islamabad
The Sub Committee of National Assembly on Communications headed by MNA Engineer Hameed-ul-Haq Khalil visited the National Highways & Motorway Police Headquarters, Islamabad today. Miss Nasima Hafeez Panezai, Joint Secretary National Assembly Khalid Mehmood, Additional Secretary, Aurangzaib Haque and Joint Secretary Amina Imran Ministry of Communications also accompanied to take briefing on the issue of shortage of manpower in National Highways & Motorway Police. The convener MNA Engineer Hameed-ul-Haq Khalil in his opening remarks appreciated the performance of NH&MP.
Muhammad Saleem Bhatti, IG, NH&MP briefed the Sub- Committee about lack of man power in Motorway Police. The Inspector General said that NH&MP has attained the status of the premier and lead traffic regulation and enforcement agency in Pakistan. He added that NH&MP has established Road Safety Training Institutes at district level in the country to impart standardize driving training to the people. He further added that NH&MP Driving Licensing Authority branches have been established in Kamra, Sheikhupura and Lahore for the facilitation of citizens. The Sub-committee, assured that the resource constraint would be made up for which recommendations will be send to the government for the provision of required manpower and resources. He further said that he and his team would personally visit relevant ministers and even the Prime Minister for early sanction of resources for NH&MP.
