Q: What is the procedure to apply against the vacant posts of NH&MP?
  NH&MP advertise the vacant post in leading newspapers of the country and detail procedure is mentioned in the advertisement in which the candidates are asked to submit applications on prescribed form.

Q: What is the sequence of tests for selection?
  In case the recruitment is conducted by NH&MP itself then:For the Post of JPO 

  • Short listing of candidates on the basis of physical test i.e. covering 1.6 KM in 7 minutes and on the basis of chest measurement amongst successfully candidates of running test. 
  • Written Test. 
  • Driving Test. 
  • Interview

For the Post of Non-Uniform Staff

  • Written Test
  • Proficiency Test

Q: In how many ranks, NH&MP makes direct recruitment?
  There are two categories i.e. Uniform and Non-Uniform Staff in NH&MP.For Uniform posts, there is recruitment in only two tiers i.e. PO (BS-14) and JPO (BS-05). For PO rank, Federal Public Service Commission conducts recruitment process. For JPO rank, NH&MP itself conduct recruitment. Detail procedure is mentioned in the advertisement.

For Non-Uniform posts, in case the posts are available in grade BS-16 and above then recruitment is made by Federal Public Service Commission. In case the posts are available in Grade BS-15 and below then recruitment is made by NH&MP and detail procedure is mentioned in the advertisement.

Q: What is minimum and maximum age limit to apply for the posts?
  For Uniform post, the candidate must be from 18 years to 25 year and there is no relaxation in age limit.For Non-uniform posts, the candidates are given relation in maximum age limit as per Government rules and regulation. However, the detail s is mentioned in the advertisement.

  For Uniform posts, the male candidates must have height 5’8” or above height and female candidates must have height 5’4” or above height.For non-uniform posts, there is no standard of height limit.

  Minimum qualification is B.A. (2nd Div) to apply for the post of Patrol Officer.

  For male candidates, chest measurement standard is 33” and 35”.For Female, there is no requirement.

  Yes, valid driving license (Car & Motorcycle) is mandatory to apply for the post of PO & JPO.

Q: Does NH&MP conduct driving test before issuance of appointment order of PO & JPO?
  Yes, driving test is conducted of all the candidates before call them for interview.

Q: Who is the appointing authority?
  The Inspector General of Police is the appointment authority for the post from BS-01 to BS-15. However, the appointment in the rank of BS-16 and above are made on the recommendation of FPSC which is received through Ministry of Communications.

Q: Does NH&MP observes provincial quota system while advertising posts?
  Yes, provincial quota is observed while advertising post of fixed by the Government of Pakistan.

Q: Can women apply for Uniform or Non-Uniform posts?
  Yes, NH&MP observes 10% quota reserved for women while advertising posts and appreciates the participation of women for direct recruitment.

Q: Does NH&MP take the services of government employees on deputation?
  For Uniform posts, subject to the availability of posts, completion of all legal formalities and recommendation of departmental selection committee, NH&MP takes the services of government employees serving in provincial policing setup of the country on deputation.For non-uniform posts, subject to the availability of posts, completion of all legal formalities and recommendations f departmental selection committee, NH&MP takes the services of government employees on deputations.

Q: What are the criteria of deputation?
  The candidates should fulfills the following major conditions: 

  • Prescribed educational qualification.
  • Physical Standard in case of uniform posts.
  • 03 years length of service in parent department in the rank against which he is taken on deputation.
  • Qualified the prescribed course.
  • Driving capability in case of uniform post.
  • Good service record.

Q: Can the officers serving Pak Army apply for deputation?
  Yes, they can apply for the post through their parent department.

Q: Does NH&MP permanently absorb the deputationist officers?
  Yes, subject to the recommendations of Departmental Induction Committee and completion of all legal formalities, NH&MP inducts the officers but it does not induct the officers of Pak Army.

  Yes, employees of NH&MP can be posted any where in Pakistan where it is operational

Q: How to seek help of Motorway Police in absence of Emergency Call Booth?
  The commuters are briefed to dial 130 Help Line of NH&MP in order to seek help.

Q: In any circumstances, can someone take U-Turn on Motorway?
  No one is allowed to take U-Turn on Motorway. The commuter must approach the next Interchange for this purpose.

Q: Does Highway police and motorway police are different?
  No, motorway police and highway police are the same department and known as National Highways & Motorway Police.

Q: Why NH&MP do not speed up the construction work?
  NH&MP is not responsible for construction work as it comes under the supervision of National Highway Authority (NHA). NHA and NH&MP are two different departments. NH&MP is only responsible for law enforcement on Highways & Motorways

Q: Do NH&MP officers take 25 % of the amount of fine as commission?
  No, it is a mere statement often given by the violators as they are not ignored on their violation. They satisfy other people by saying that as NH&MP officer has a share of 25 % in challan amount, so that they do not relax.

Q: Why not Motorway Police deputed in other big cities?
  It is a policy matter which will be solved by the Government and the Ministry of Communications.

Q: Why Qingqi Rikshaws are prohibited to use the highway?
  Because it is an unsafe PSV. That is why it is prohibited to come on the G.T. Road and traffic rules did not allow them.

Q: Is it fair to impose fine for using such a poor road condition?
  The road construction/repairing and maintenance is concerned to NHA. National Highways & Motorway Police is a law enforcement agency. NH&MP is deployed on highways to aware traffic rules to general public for minimizing the accidents/incident and free flow of traffic. However, NHA is approached by time to time but ill coordination was found into the matter.
