ACTION AGAINST OVERCHARGING – MOTORWAY POLICE

National Highways & and Motorway Police has started strict legal action against overcharging in the fares by the public transport vehicles. Inspector General, NH&MP, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema has directed all zonal DIsG to initiate stern legal action on such complaints. The I.G directed to impose heavy fine on such violators and to take all necessary measures to retrieve the extra amount taken. He passed directions to impound vehicles of lawbreakers. Inspector General said that the stern action would also be taken against owners of the public transport vehicles involved in overcharging. He said “the transporters who charge extra fares on the eve of Eid should feel shame. In the foreign countries, on the occasion of Christmas, goods are sold at cheaper rates and considerable concession in fares is provided to general public. But here, at blissful events, pillage starts which is shameful and condemnable act”. Any injustice with the passengers on this joyous occasion would not be tolerated, the Inspector General stressed.
